Climate Change and Community Resilience

Nepal’s diverse geography and ecosystems make it highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change — from glacial melt and erratic rainfall to floods, droughts, and shifting agricultural patterns. The Faculty of Climate Change and Community Resilience focuses on understanding climate risks, developing adaptation strategies, and building the resilience of communities, especially those in fragile mountain and rural regions. This faculty works to empower individuals and institutions to prepare for and respond effectively to climate-related challenges while safeguarding livelihoods and ecosystems.

Key Areas of Focus:

  • Climate risk assessment and vulnerability mapping
  • Adaptation strategies for agriculture, water, and livelihoods
  • Indigenous knowledge and community-based resilience practices
  • Disaster risk reduction and early warning systems
  • Climate change education, awareness, and policy support
  • Resilient infrastructure planning and sustainable development
  • Research on climate change impacts and mitigation strategies

Our faculty works closely with local governments, NGOs, and community groups to develop practical, inclusive, and science-based solutions for climate adaptation and resilience-building.
