Enviromental Science

Nepal’s diverse ecosystems, from the Himalayas to the Terai plains, are under increasing environmental pressure. The Environmental Science Faculty at VVRI is committed to safeguarding Nepal’s natural heritage through research, education, and sustainable solutions. Our focus is on understanding environmental challenges and equipping communities and policymakers to address them effectively.

Key Areas of Focus:

  • Climate Change & Adaptation: Researching the impacts of climate change on Nepal’s glaciers, rivers, agriculture, and biodiversity, and developing strategies to build resilience.
  • Pollution Control & Waste Management: Promoting sustainable waste disposal, recycling practices, air and water quality monitoring, and pollution mitigation.
  • Biodiversity Conservation: Studying and protecting Nepal’s unique flora and fauna, endangered species, and critical habitats.
  • Sustainable Natural Resource Management: Encouraging judicious use of land, water, minerals, and energy resources.
  • Disaster Risk Reduction & Environmental Hazards: Researching and providing solutions for managing floods, landslides, earthquakes, and glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs)

Our faculty works closely with environmental experts, NGOs, governmental agencies, and international organizations to ensure Nepal’s development remains sustainable and eco-friendly.
