Water Pollution Control & Conservation

Nepal’s rivers, lakes, and groundwater resources are vital for both local communities and ecosystems. However, growing urbanization, industrialization, and improper waste disposal have led to significant water pollution, which threatens biodiversity, public health, and the livelihoods of millions of people.

Water Pollution Control & Conservation

Key Projects and Initiatives:

Impact and Achievements

Improved Water Quality in 10+ Communities

Our wastewater treatment and water quality monitoring initiatives have significantly improved the water quality in over 10 communities across the Kathmandu Valley.

Cleaner Rivers and Lakes

Our river and lake clean-up campaigns have resulted in the removal of over 50 tons of plastic waste and other pollutants from water bodies like the Bagmati River and Phewa Lake.

Reduced Industrial Discharge

Through policy advocacy and direct engagement, we’ve helped reduce industrial wastewater discharge into rivers by promoting cleaner production technologies and treatment facilities.

Future Goals

Water Pollution Control & Conservation

We remain committed to scaling up our efforts to reduce water pollution, restore Nepal’s aquatic ecosystems, and improve access to clean water for all. Our future initiatives will focus on:

  • Expanding wastewater treatment infrastructure in rural and remote areas.
  • Launching eco-friendly business practices to prevent water pollution at the source.
  • Strengthening policy frameworks to address water pollution at the national level.
